More than 300 guests including New York City Assemblywoman Nicole Malliotakis and New York City Council Member Dominic M. Recchia attended Construct Relief’s Staten Island fundraiser held on December 6, 2012 at the Vanderbilt on South Beach. The event, which featured a $10,000.00 gift card(s) donation by Home Depot, raised $50,000.00 towards the rebuilding efforts for Staten Island homes affected by Hurricane Sandy.
“The support we received from the New York City construction community was incredible,” Construct Relief’s Co-Founder Dominick Ciccarelli said. “The donations received will provide a base for our core mission to help rebuild Staten Island homes.”
The Construct Relief Foundation was formed as a not-for-profit organization by the Founders and Partners of New York City firms Think Design Architecture and All Renovation Construction LLC. Construct Relief’s mission is to lead the reconstruction efforts of Staten Island homes affected by Hurricane Sandy. The foundation was initiated immediately after the storm to provide construction finance, management and fundraising efforts for the Staten Island community. It will also serve as an independent entity to which the New York City Building and Design community can contribute their time and materials, funding and other construction related resources.
“With the winter weather already upon us, it was extremely important for the Construct Relief team to get our foundation started so we can help as many people as possible”, stated All Renovation Construction partner and Staten Island resident, Pietro Calabretta. “We have worked with the Think Design Architecture team on many New York City construction projects so it was imperative that we now use our expertise and working relationship to give back to our community” further stated Calabretta.
As part of the foundation’s mission of helping Staten Island families rebuild their homes, Construct Relief held it’s first fundraising event on December 6, 2012 at Staten Island’s Vanderbilt at South Beach venue. All monies and donations collected at the event will go towards the rebuilding of homes affected by Hurricane Sandy.
